History of sugar sachets
The first sugar packets appeared in the United States in the second half of the last century. The entrepreneur, Benjamin Eisenstadt, came up with the idea of packing sugar in disposable packets.
These were times when restaurants usually used sugar-bowls or glass dispensers. And it was this irritation (the lack of hygiene) of open sugar-bowls
and dispensers that directly contributed to the formation of sugar sachets. Then, drinking tea during lunch with his wife, Eisenstadt came up with the revolutionary idea of packing sugar into individual sachets. As Ben was associated with the tea industry, he concluded that the packaging of sugar cannot differ too much from that of the packaging of tea.
In time, new forms of disposable sugar packaging were created. Today, the most popular form are packaging is in the form of a so-called sugar stick. These packages are more economical compared to Ben square sachets and because of their convenience they are now the most popular among customers.
Sugar sticks can be opened even with one hand! The packaging, which hardly anyone realizes, has been designed so that it can be broken in half and the entire content can be conveniently poured out, leaving only a small piece of paper.
So it’s Benjamin Eisenstadt, who over half a century ago was the first to pack sugar into a sachet – an aesthetic and most importantly a hygienic product.
